Marijuana/Cannabis, according to the DEA’s website, is a Schedule I Controlled Substance:
“Substances in this schedule have no currently accepted medical use in the United States, a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse.”
Yet the U.S. government patents it stating:
“Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.”
